This past fall a legacy ended at Iowa State University , little did we know at this time a LEGEND was born. As we all gatherd in Des Moines for the 2010 World Pork Expo we celebrated the lifetime achievements of Al Christian to the purebred swine industry. Those of us, who know Al well, knew he wouldn't leave us quietly and what he left us with was LEGEND Introducing the 2010 World Pork Expo Grand Champion & World Record Setting $50,000 Berkshire boar. The talk of the barn was LEGEND and did not disappoint. LEGEND was argued by many as the best boar in the barn and something the Berkshire breed had not witnessed in years, if ever. We are confident in the fact that his impact on the breed will be as influential as the man who provided us with him. LEGEND walked away with the Berkshire show in Grand fashion. It was crowd ringside for a Berkshire show in many years. Later this crowd would be referred to those who witnessed history. |
